      Product Marketing Manager Interview

      Jun 26, 2023

      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Five9

      Interview

Interview Timeline: - Interviewing: 5 weeks - Interviewing + final decision answer: 7 weeks Week 1: First Interview/Phone Screen: - 30-minute live zoom call with talent acquisition. - Review of experience/background, interest in the role, etc. - The recruiter explained the hiring process for the role -Went over Org structure - Relayed Interview timeline: Originally planned for three rounds but was changed midway through. Week 2 | Second Interview: - A 45-minute Zoom interview with the hiring manager. - Discussed background, experience, interest in the role, and asked technical/behavioral questions. - Super friendly & conversational *Talent Acquisition reached-out prior to panel-ish Interviews requesting work samples.* Week 4: Three Interviews back-to-back - Each interview designated 30-minutes via Zoom. - Interviewers: Director of Product Marketing, Senior Project Manager, & Director of Product. - Explored additional skills/knowledge beyond resume - Technical questions & behavioral - Ultimately to understand how I would work with the team, skills, & get to know the departments relationships Week 5: (Final) Fourth Interview: - Initially a 30-minute video call that extended to 1 hour. - Interviewer: Final interview with the VP of Product Marketing. - Again very friendly conversational interview with background on the department, the product, and some technical questions and position function questions - Informed about competing against three other candidates & was relayed the timeline for those interviews to which I am very grateful for time frame purposes. Week 7: Final answer regarding the role. - Two weeks of silence after the final interview - Personal Takeaway/guess..?: All finalists were considered "hire-able" and ranked in order of priority and Five9 kept candidates who were further down in the hiring rank in the dark over these two weeks but still give assumption for consideration in case priority candidate(s) declined offers /took other offers, etc. which is understandable. - Positive overall experience with extremely kind and knowledgeable/skilled interviewers Recommendations for TA/Recruiting: 1. Post final interview; inform candidates of the time frame of the decision/offer may take post final interview & how to expect that communication (email/phone call, etc). 2. was informed by Talent acquisition that the team was in the decision making process and that there would be a final decision made by the end of the week and that they would reach out to me to deliver updates. I didn't receive any updates but instead (2 days later) received an automated email from greenhouse asking for me to submit a survey of how my interview experience went with Five9 which left me really confused as a candidate. Of course I suspected upon receiving this that I didn't get the role but was a bit disheartened as I just went through a 7 week interview process, made it to the final round and only received a survey as my direct communication that I didn't get the role. After filling out the survey and giving this feedback, I received an email almost instantly letting me know that the role is closed. I don't think this was intentional but an error that definitely didn't feel too good but glad they applied the feedback and sent the emails almost instantly. 3. If possible, stick to the discussed interview process as much as possible with candidates. I can imagine that the extra interviews added could really compromise the talent pool/finalists for roles at five9. I would highly suggest condensing the interview process minus one of those interviews. Despite the relatively minor issues mentioned above, the individuals from Five9 were very pleasant, and was glad to see that my feedback delivered via greenhouse for the interview process/communication was promptly implemented after submitting, even if it didn't result in a favorable outcome
