I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Fifth Third (Dayton, OH) in May 2019
Interview
The starting process was great, Recruiter was informative and engaging, made me feel excited about the opportunity, but this is where it stops.
Was set up for an interview with two specific managers, arrived a bit early, while waiting one of the managers asks me if I had a tie, because her manager doesn’t like people nit wearing ties, even though I was dressed clearly business attire, button up with a collar, slacks etc. Then she tells me I should go to Goodwill to find a tie and also says I should go somewhere to drink a coffee while he finishes is appointments. Now mind you, I scoped the place out while I was there. I didn’t see any MALES working and I didn’t see any AFRICAN AMERICANS working there either on that day. Not trying to use this as a reason but with the faces she was making while I was responding to the questions in the interview gave me the notion that she never was and never would be interested in me(She should learn how to hide her expressions better). Now my resume along with my responses to the questions shows that I am clearly qualified for the position. But unfortunately I don’t “Look The Part.” Terrible way to judge a person.
