      Gas and Power Marketing Interview

      Feb 14, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at ExxonMobil (London, England) in May 2018

      Interview

Began with an individual case study followed by an interview on the results. This was followed by a competency based interview with a few generic questions on the firm and the role, but nothing technical. The third stage was a group discussion on the case study (a real life scenario the company underwent) that involved the same task where the candidate had to come up with the solution - either install or don't install. As each candidate may (and they did) come to unique conclusions and differing decisions, the idea was to persuade those with differing opinions to go along with your decision (this was essentially the idea, assessed on how you convey ideas and negotiate, however it was labelled as a simple 'discussion'). Towards the end someone from the firm added a new piece of information which the group was supposed to evaluate and act on - standard procedure in these exercises. Finally, the group of 6 was split in half and the contents were presented as a trio to 2 employees. All this was assessed as they looked for what they considered 'key competences' to succeed in the role.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ExxonMobil (Leatherhead, England) in Sep 2015

      Interview

After EMEC, got put to final round interview with 4 different interviews: one pannel, 2 individual, and one situational judgement. Each was of one hour, and quite difficult as they drilled my CV. I had a 'buddy' which followed me around the whole day. He was a nice chap, and talked to me a lot about the company and what they do, made the whole experience much more relaxing.

      Question 1

How would you try sell gas obtained from middle east given the current geopolitical conditions? (with a map being provided to help me jot down ideas)
