Interview
Three days after applying I heard back about doing a quick phone interview. Before the interview they had me do an online skills assessment which was pretty easy but did involve some thinking.
Since they had a busy schedule I had to schedule the phone interview 11 days after receiving the email about it. The interview went really well, the lady I talked to was really nice and sociable which made it very easy to hold conversation.
Two days later I got news that I was moving onto the UI exercise where they sent me a prompt to design for 2 different users. I had 1 weeks to submit but wanted me to only spend 10 hours on it maximum.
So I have my personal opinions on design challenges and how I don't agree with them. Like in this case I did unpaid work where I spend more than 10 hours on it because if you can do something to increase my chances who wouldn't spend more time on it. They can say all they want that those designs wont be used outside of this but we will never truly know.
I submitted my designs after 6 days and 18 days after submission I was told I wouldn't be moving forward.
From what I've heard on reddit is that if you pass the UI exercise you would have a final round interview where they fly you out to the headquarters.
Overall the people I interacted with were great and responded very quickly but the interview process seemed very drawn out and sketchy with the whole UI exercise.
The interview process consisted of an initial recruiter screening, followed by a hiring manager interview and several rounds with cross-functional team members. The discussions focused on my product design experience, design thinking process, collaboration with engineers and product managers, and portfolio case studies. I was also asked to explain how I approach ambiguous problems and measure the impact of my work. The process was professional and well-structured, and communication was timely throughout.

Question 1
I walked through a recent project from problem discovery to launch. I explained how I conducted user research, identified key pain points, explored design concepts, collaborated with engineers, and validated solutions through testing. I also shared measurable outcomes and reflected on lessons learned during the project.
Got to the phone call interview stage.
Along with the phone call, I had to complete a virtual skills assessment that testing math and problem-solving skills (applying layered logic from a fake coding language).
Received an initial call about the position, finished a couple of assessments, completed a take home design exercise, and in the process of the final 4hr interview. The design exercise is given with a prompt in which you must fulfill the requirements in 5 hours or less. You have a week to finish the exercise, but for the most part, it was pretty fun.
