      Pricing Analyst Interview

      Jan 16, 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Madison, WI
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Epic (Madison, WI) in Feb 2011

      Interview

Their interview process is very well documented on this site, and is accurate. When I went there, I was applying for PM/IC and pricing analyst, but ended up being offered a job in some ITish position. I'm sure I would've loved working there, but I got offered a really great job in my home state.

      Interview

First round call with a current Pricing Analyst - explained the role in depth (this was the bulk of the call) and asked a few basic questions about my experience and what I'm looking for in a new role. This is a super small team in a very big company, so very competitive. Second round was online exam covering math, coding, and reading comprehension.

      Question 1

Why are you interested in this role? What other types of roles are you applying to?

      Interview

Initial phone interview lasted roughly 30 minutes. They asked some basic background questions and why I was interested in Epic. Where do you see yourself if 5 years? Willingness to relocate to Madison WI.

      Question 1

Nothing out of the ordinary here. It was just an initial phone interview.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Epic in Apr 2011

      Interview

The hiring process was long and drawn out. All correspondence (including the telephone interview) felt canned and was conducted by people most likely younger than myself (only 23 yrs old). The process consisted of a personality test, phone interview, and skills test. The skills test was also SAT like, and generally seemed irrelevant to my position that I was applying to. At no time did I feel as though the process was an actual interview, but was merely a series of uniform hoops to jump through. High School all over again, and it was clear they were looking for a specific type of personality/clone. More power to the company, as they have grown (albeit with high turnover) as a result of this model. Not hard to see through the process and tell that it was a churn and burn type of working environment for people fresh out of school.
