      Technology Consulting Digital Engineering Interview

      Apr 5, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Deloitte (London, England)

      Interview

For the first stage interview, it is very similar to a typical assessment day where you have a group exercise, an individual case study and a 1-1 interview. For the group discussion don't worry too much if someone is overshadowing you as they are likely making themselves look bad. Try to get a couple of good points across and you will shine. Try not to interrupt anyone, and if you accidentally do then be polite about it. The key is to find a middle ground between being too silent and talking too much. And be collaborative! Work off others' ideas and show that you are taking their views into account e.g. "I think that's a great point, I would also like to add..." Case study wise, you get given a calculator so use it. Make the most of the prep time and you will be allowed to take your notes in, so make them readable for yourself so you can easily refer to them when you have to. Don't just scribble pages and pages because you will find yourself fumbling in the interview. Have a coherent structure to your answers and think of what additional data you would need. Pretend you are a consultant representing your company (Deloitte). Speak clearly and confidently. Next, the interview consists of the standard Why Deloitte, Why specifically Digital, What do you expect to be doing on a day-day basis (apparently lots of people don't know this role involves coding, so say coding!) A time when you worked in a team, A time where you managed a project form start to finish, Your biggest achievement till date etc. Deloitte Digital has a different culture to the larger Deloitte, make sure you know the difference and can talk about why both appeal to you - but Digital specifically. Prepare some interesting questions regarding current affairs in tech or the role in particular. Remember that they don't expect you to know that much technical jargon, that's what the training is for. Dazzle them with your research and enthusiasm and convince them that you will be an asset to the company. Finally the partner interview involves a 5 min presentation and Q+A and then values based questions. Be original in your presentation and show you have researched Deloitte Digital's brand in the handout and your talk. In the values questions they want to see if the role aligns with your personality and career aspirations. You might get questions like Where do you see yourself in 5 years? This interview is very much like a conversation, try to find common points with your partner - keep them interested in you. Deloitte Digital representatives are a lot more laid back so maintain professionalism but show them you are not dull to be around and can hold a conversation. Overall, don't panic as it is not rocket science; all it takes is some solid research and preparation. Try to talk to people you know working in Deloitte already, specifically in the role. If not, you can always reach out via LinkedIn. The great thing about people at Deloitte is that they are all really keen to help and want you to succeed. Good luck!
