I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Columbia Insurance Group (Columbia, MO) in Mar 2026
Interview
One-on-one meeting with the hiring manager. Nice guy. Very informal. Not very clear on what was expected from me or even what the questions being asked were. The description of the role and the structure of the organization were unusual. They seemed hesitant to discuss a pay range. Were clear that there wasn't really anyway to grow your career there. I had the feeling I wasn't what they were looking for, but no one told me what exactly they were looking for. I tried following up with HR but was ignored for a few weeks before receiving a generic rejection email when the role was filled. Professionalism in this country died with covid apparently.
Panel of 3- 2 present one on video, asking questions and explaining the job. I was given the opportunity to ask questions and assured they would be in touch within two weeks.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Columbia Insurance Group (Columbia, MO) in Feb 2023
Interview
A recruitor from a telent agency reached out to me. A first call with them, then they submitted my resume to CIG. The interview conposed of 2 rounds. First had a call with the hiring manager, HR and an engineer. Mostly behavioral, we talked about my personality, my past projects, what I'm looking for in my next role, etc. It went well, moved to the onsite shortly. The onsite had 4 sessions, 3 behavioral and 1 technical. Spoke with VP HR, IT supervisors, CIO and the future team members. The coding session weren't scary, two LeetCode easy level problems. Everyone I talked to were very friendly and warm, everyone was smiling throughout the entire process.
