Common stages of the interview process at Coactive AI as a Machine Learning Engineer according to 4 Glassdoor interviews include:
I applied online. I interviewed at Coactive AI in Apr 2024
Interview
1. HR screening: The HR was super friendly, even had some technical knowledge to ask me about my past experiences, and remained available for the entire process to answer the questions I had. During this screening, I had to answer a few questions about ML fundamentals. The questions are pretty easy, they just want to make sure you know the basics.
2. Technical interview with the hiring manager: We went into details about the projects I worked on.
3. Live ML-focused Python coding interview
4. Onsite interviews: they flew me in to their head office in Silicon Valley, which was so cool! It was actually my first time in the US, it helped me gauge the culture and my future peers. I got the chance to meet a lot of the team during my lunch with them: the company is full of super cool and brilliant people. The onsite included an ML System Design interview, live DSA-focused Python coding interview, and a talk with the head of engineering.
Both coding interviews were frankly not hard, they mostly try to evaluate your reasoning skills, your ability to justify your reasoning, and good coding practices. There were no irrelevant, LC hard type of questions, which I really appreciated. The ML System Design interview was harder, more open-ended.
In the end, after meeting the people + being interested about the product + the competitive salary for the Montréal area, I accepted the offer.

Question 1
1. HR Screening: Questions about statistics and ML fundamentals
1. HR screen call 2. Hiring Manager.
The entire interview was disgusting. HM doesn't care what you said. He is so disrespectful and unprofessional. Don't go this trashy company. So bad in details. You can tell why they are a small-size company regards to interview.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Coactive AI (Montreal, QC) in Apr 2024
Interview
The interview process has 5 rounds R1) HR screening R2) Technical discussion with the team leader R3) Live coding #1 R4) Live coding #2 R5) On Site in California with upper management
The whole cycle was very fast, it took only 2 weeks for the first 4 rounds.
Got stopped after R4. In the meantime another position as Applied research scientist got open, where my profile was a better fit. I asked HR if I could apply for it but didn't get an answer. I then asked the hiring manager, who said that my profile was indeed a good fit and he asked HR to reach out, but at the end they ghosted me. I think I was not such a bad candidate as I reach R4 so I would have expected a more professional communication.
