I applied through other source. I interviewed at Citizen Health (San Mateo, CA) in Sep 2025
Interview
I was reached out to via email in September to interview here. I had calls with the recruiters, and the hiring manager about the role and it seemed to go fine. I went onsite for an in-person interview, and the schedule was completely thrown out the window. I came in around 11 am and didn't get back home till 7 PM, because no one actually stuck to the designated interview times. I was also told there wouldn't be any coding on the onsite interview by the recruiter, but was asked Pandas & SQL questions in the last minutes of one of the interviews, after a technical deep dive. In the second interview, which I was led to believe would be system design, had a code review question, which again, I had no information to prepare for in advance. I came in prepared for the technical discussion and system design. At the end, I was told there were concerns about my coding ability, and they would let me know what their decision was the next day. The hiring manager texted me three days later, and I was unavailable that day ( I still have another job and meetings), and he never reached out again after I communicated my unavailability that day. Basically in the end, I got ghosted. This was incredibly disappointing after all these people had been polite to me.
Some advice for the team: be mindful of candidate's time, especially when they take the entire day off to come to the onsite. Provide them with a response on what your decision is. This is the bare minimum expected.
