I only had an initial phone call and that was enough for me. A recruiter emailed me (without any signature) and using short language to set up the call. She called on expected date and time, and used slightly condescending tone while asking about experiences. About 7 minutes into the call she asked my expected salary range, which I had already indicated on my application, and then told me that they couldn't provide that salary, which was fine by me and good to know up front. However, she then continued to explain just HOW underqualified I was and how they could give that salary to someone with x years of experience, but not me, and to let them know if my expectations change or are lowered. They really could have left it at "we cannot provide that salary at this time but let us know if anything changes" without the condescension and insult about my lack of experience. Found the explanation of willingness to pay another more for the same position offensive- positions should be paid at market rate for the work they are doing and you can sort talent by qualification. Won't be applying here again.
