Applied through LinkedIn, and a recruiter reached out to set up a phone screen. I assumed it would be your usual 15-20 minute "Let me tell you about the role, you tell me why you're interested" first call, but this one went a whole hour, with the recruiter asking me some STAR questions on top of the usual phone screen stuff. They were nice, and liked me, so I was moved onto the next round.
Round 2 was an hour WebEx interview with two managers. It was more behavioral based questions, with some more technical questions thrown in there so they can get an idea of your financial acumen
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe your investment philosophy
Tell us about market conditions/trends you're keeping an eye on, and how they relate to your investment philosophy
Walk us through the most complex client financial plan you were a part of
How do you organize your book, and how do you typically structure your day?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Charles Schwab (Denver, CO) in Jan 2022
Interview
The interview process started with a Talent Acquisition Specialist reaching out to me to screen an interview for the open position. I was questioned on my past experience with the firm and the job I applied for.
From there, the specialist reaches to out the hiring manager to schedule an interview. After weeks of no contact, I received communication that I am not moving on in the interview process.
This was not a good experience as I was employed at Charles Schwab in the past. What really upset me was the recommendation of the talent acquisition specialist. The specialist recommended that I interview for a lesser role than the one I applied for. With over 10 years of experience and having licenses and numerous certifications, I felt this to be condescending as she put me in the process of this lesser job role. With no contact in over two weeks, the opportunity to interview for the role I initially applied for was no longer an opporunity.
