      Engineering Manager Interview

      Aug 11, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at CarMax

      Interview

Upon applying, you are given a link to a "questionnaire". Unfortunately that link did not work for close to 48 hours -- clicking the link resulted in an "under construction" page. I guess they eventually fixed it, and it posted two tests -- an aptitude/IQ type test and something akin to a DiSC assessment. Upon completion, the application was finally considered 'submitted'. Within 24-48 hours I got an email from a recruiter to set up an initial call. After a longer than expected delay -- and me having to follow up because there was no formal confirmation/invite sent -- it took place and seemed to go well nonetheless. I was told that they wanted to get me in front of the manager, and expect to hear something one way or another within a day or two. More than a day or two passed, and several days later, I followed up. No response. I gave it a few more days and basically wrote it off. That said, it wasn't until weeks later that it was clear the job was closed, and then within 24 of the closing, I got an automated email rejection. The lack of follow-through, throughout this process, was appalling and pretty unprofessional. Plenty of companies/recruiters out there do a far better job of keeping candidates aware of what is going on, good or bad. That was not one of them
