      Mixed Fleet Cabin Crew Interview

      Sep 5, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Heathrow, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at British Airways (Heathrow, England)

      Interview

Easy group task, friendly other candidates, nice recruitment centre and free teas and coffees. Dreadful role play (my bad, stage fright is a horrible thing), though selection of others in the group just weird. Some really strong candidates got sent home. Inexperienced people got through, including some who knew next to nothing about the company, crew fleets, planes... etc. Seems a pretty sorry system there is no way to show knowledge of the industry/company and love of aviation before the cut off point of round one, not even on application. Even the orange budget brigade offer an 'anything else you'd like us to know' column. As I say, I know exactly what went wrong for me so for myself I know what I failed on in the role play (brain would not compute what was on the info sheet you get 35 seconds to look at and have as a guide close by and translate that in to ideas in my mouth. So frustrating!). I just don't think the theory about a) being a middle grounder and helper-out with the group task (calculating money and keeping time) and not being the strongest is correct information, and I would be very surprised, given the behaviour and lack of knowledge of some of the ones that got through that anyone was observing from a distance as rumour has it. Doesn't also seem to figure that if you research their look and colour palate and do the bun and suit thing it makes much odds as four girls got through with hair down, no suit and one guy (though very charming, I'd have chosen him) got through wearing jeans... ? ? It actually seemed to count against you unless you were already BA-connected to have any prior knowledge at all.

      Question 1

Didn't get that far. But then, neither did several others already employed in bigger (better) airlines.

      Interview

Easy and friendly people. Did an online interior. Breakout rooms for one on one sections. Asked to read a sheet then asked questions about my experience. How I have handled previous situations. Used star formula went very well.

      Interview

A long day, but assessors helped us feel at ease throught the process. The two interviewers had different styles which helped the interview flow. The wait for an offer was the most nerve-racking part.
