Completed the online application and successfully passed the situation/personality phase. I was then invited for an interview in-store a week later. It was pretty relaxed and not too informal. Although, I don't think that the two managers that interviewed me actually knew I was coming in for interview that day. It was only when I told a member of staff (and a friend of mine from working at that store five years ago) that I had arrived and she alerted the managers that two managers came out and were hovering around an aisle as if they were unsure of what to do. Despite this, the actual interview was really quick and a nice process. I was asked a few general questions and then was taken to the shop floor and was asked to explain what I would do to an aisle of products (pull items forward, make sure the aisle and shelving were tidy, ensure prices were matched with correct products). Then I was given some paper and asked to note down what I would do to the fragrance section if I had a week to sort it out (arrange displays so that they caught the attention of customers, consult fragrance sales and devise a plan of how to promote fragrances that were low in sales, ensure the correct stock was ordered, prepare offer signs/advertising for particular events etc.). The whole interview took less than half an hour and they called me two days later to offer me a part-time position of 30 hours across 4 days.

The process was fairly informal and friendly. I was just asked a few basic questions, followed by a simple exercise on the shop floor handing out samples to customers in the store.
