I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at BlackLine in Feb 2024
Interview
I participated in two interview rounds at BlackLine. The initial interview panel was highly professional and demonstrated a deep understanding of the field. The panel asked insightful questions, including three programming questions and covered the basics of automation frameworks. The interview went smoothly and was quite positive.
However, the second round, conducted by an interviewer with more than 10 years of experience as an SDET, was disheartening. Despite being informed that it would be an automation round and being well-prepared, the interview took an unexpected turn. The focus was solely on asking the top 30 interview questions about BDD cucumber, not allowing any room for broader discussion. It is still unclear how these questions are going to evaluate a senior SDET position. Despite answering all the questions, I received a rejection without clear feedback. This experience was disappointing and unfair, as it seemed that the interviewer relied heavily on generic questions found on the internet rather than drawing from extensive experience. It raises concerns about the qualification and training of interviewers at BlackLine, and I hope they address these issues for future candidates.
