      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Best Buy (Burnaby, BC) in Jul 2022

      Interview

The interview process itself was easy. The interviewers were pleasant to converse with. The questions were pretty typical for a UI designer position. However, I did not appreciate that they let me know that I didn't get the position via video call. They scheduled a video call with me 2 weeks after my interview, and I thought that it was a positive sign, especially because all the other companies I've interviewed with just emailed me if I made it or not. The team lead told me that I won't be making it to the next step of the interview process, and it was just so awkward having to look him in the eye and pretend it was okay. He did give me feedback on things I could improve on for future interviews, which I do appreciate. I just did not like how he had to do this over video call. I think they should change this part of the interview process. You can simply email the person your decision instead of inviting them to a video call to tell them they didn't make the cut. It was a little embarrassing and discouraging. I did not feel good after the video call.

      Question 1

What's your process? How did you manage people? Why did you make this design decision?
      Answer question
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Best Buy (Burnaby, BC) in May 2019

      Interview

The recruiter reached out and set up an initial meeting, failed to call at the set time, then randomly called another day to conduct the phone screen. A second interview was set up, but again they failed to call in. The process was entirely unprofessional and disrespectful. For a company trying to find qualified candidates in such a tight market, Best Buy should be working a lot harder.

What software do you use? How do you keep up-to-date on the latest trends?
