      Cashier Interview

      Cerritos, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Best Buy (Cerritos, CA) in Sep 2012

      Interview

I applied online on Friday morning (September 14), they literally called me within 30 minutes to discuss my availability and asked why I wanted to work for Best Buy. I was scheduled for an interview with the supervisor of the cashier department on Wednesday ( September 19). Came in and waited in the front for 20 minutes. The lady was very nice and gave off a positive vibe. After shaking hands and introducing ourselves, we walked to the backroom. In the mean time we had some small talk. A good opportunity to get to know each other a tiny bit. The interview took place at the break-room. (I recommend bringing a resume and cover letter. She commended me for it and was surprised to see them.) She asked questions about: why I wanted to work for Best Buy, what do you like about Best Buy, previous job experience related questions, do you like working in groups, what do you do when you're in a group with someone you don't like, tell me a time you went out of your way for a customer, and etc. She ended the interview asking me if I had questions for her. I asked how do I move up and etc. I pretty much nailed the interview. She told me I'd be a perfect addition to the team and that someone will call me tomorrow in regards to my interview with the general manager. The next day I got a call about my 2nd interview. It was on a Friday (September 21). Came in and waited for a good 40 minutes since the general manager was busy with other interviews. We walked into a small security room. He asked questions like why is Best Buy number one, what action needs to be taken when an employee steals, what would you do if you saw an employee stealing, would it be okay to steal a small pack of gum, and etc. Offered me the cashier position for $10 an hour, didn't negotiate it. It was perfect, I honestly was expecting lower. Told me to take my drug test right after (which I did) and they'll keep in touch. Got a call on Thursday (September 27) saying my drug test and background check was clear. They're still waiting to finish interviews and after it they'll set up an orientation next week.

      Interview

Was not hard. Asked simple behavioural questions and wanted to grasp if I could handle high-pressured environments to be able to handle work on days such as Black Friday. Mostly just talked about my past experience in retail!

It wasn’t bad at all. It was just a few quick questions about my past experience and whether or not I would be able to work part or full time, stuff like that.
