      Senior Manager Interview

      Oct 2, 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Nashville, TN
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Asurion (Nashville, TN) in Aug 2015

      Interview

I applied online and was contacted by the recruiter for a phone screen. He acted like my qualifications were sub-par although I was one of the few qualified applicants to apply. He even went as far to convince me that I shouldn't ask for relo because they were interviewing local people that would be favored stronger. I knew the local pool was not strong and the company had to hire from outside. He called me back after a few days to tell me the hiring manager wanted to talk to me because "he was actually impressed with my background." They made me fill out some online reference where I could list 25 references and they wanted a minimum of 10. Spoke to the hiring manager and the call went well. A few days later they called to fly me out. I felt very positive with the interview. The following week, I heard from a contractor from my current company that the hiring manager contacted him for a reference. This was on top of the 13 I provided to them. I didn't mind that they were finding their own references, but if the contractor was a different type of person, this could have been very bad for me in my current company. They never asked if they could contact him. Dragged on a few more weeks, changes in HR and I received a new recruiter. the new recruiter scheduled a video interview with another person. I thought it was just the final formality. They went on about their high turn over and high expectations of people. She called me the following week and said they wanted to fly me back out to meet with the same people a second time. I had had enough with this by this point. I think I figured that by high expectations they meant endless hoops for people to jump through rather than work well done. I asked if there was any other option to flying out a second time. She said she would speak to the hiring manager but if there was another video interview it would be formal and I would be expected to wear a suit. So much for their casual flexible environment. After that I never heard from them again. No worries, I accepted an offer with a company that walked the walk.

      I interviewed at Asurion

      Interview

Phone screen -> HM -> 3 days case study -> presentation -> a couple of panelists I am writing this review hoping that other candidates will not experience what I had. They rescinded my offer a day after they gave me a verbal. I did everything I needed to do as a candidate, from getting alignment on compensation early in the interview process all the way to spending my entire weekend working on their case study. Got a call 2 days after the last interview with recruiter saying "they are anticipating an offer the next day". So I turned down the other offer I had in hand and withdrew from other interview processes. Then, Asurion rescinded their offer the next day and didn't give any feedback except that my TC expectation was way higher than their budget. But didn't the recruiter and I already agreed on the range in our first phone call? The HM gave an OK because he said he wanted to attract talents. I was left in a bad position and had to start everything from square one. It was a lesson learned for me - Asurion is not a trustworthy company.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Asurion (Nashville, TN)

      Interview

It was well organized and questions were not too difficult. There were no odd ball questions like if you were a fruit what fruit would you be. I had a screening with HR and then I was screened by the hiring manager. Then I had about 6 consecutive interviews with various individuals. STAR method was very helpful as the questions were behavioral. HR was great at being proactive in their communication. It was a good experience.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Asurion (Smyrna, TN) in Jun 2019

      Interview

There were two phone interviews and one half day of individual interviews with six people. The interviews were 'conversational' and relaxed. I felt the need to drop any 'canned' response and be authentic. It felt more like several individual conversations then an interview. The whole thing was handled and managed professionally. I felt respected and as if I was very important to each of the interviewers.
