      User Operations Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Asana (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2016

      Interview

PRO:The product itself impeccable. Some of the people I meet quite brilliant, highly intelligent, quick witted and engaging. CON: The 6 panel interview seemed forced. Their did not seem to be a real focus on what the role definition was really supposed to be. The in person interview process seemed too rushed and the individuals did not seem to have any real focus on the questions they asked. When I asked the Lead where he saw himself in 5 years. He stated, “The life span at a Start Up is 2 years.” Which, made me realize the company isn’t really looking for people who want to grow with the company. However, they seem to be looking for seat fillers. Another individual proclaimed he wants to finish his degree in Literature however, he still works there. My assumption is no one seems generally happy there. My lunch with a CSR rep who left another career and was hired because she knew someone there. However, she seemed to have a void in her enthusiasm to be working at Asana. If all else they are looking to hire cheerleaders for their High School mentality of a Start Up! When someone goes to an interview and is not showed around the office and the Customer Service Manager you interviewed with on the phone is not there to interview you. Unconscious bias is an indication that they had made their decision even though they went through the motions of an interview.
