      Strategic Account Manager Interview

      Dec 5, 2025
      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Articulate Global in Aug 2021

      Interview

I met initially with the VP of sales, had a good discussion, and then asked if I wanted to continue forward in the interview process. When I said "yes", i was given a project whereby I was given the name of a potential customer and asked how I would go about bringing this customer's business in to Articulate; I was asked the tools I would use, the person(s) I would contact, how often I would reach out, etc. I wasn't given a strict timeline but I took about a week to complete a presentation on the topics. I then presented my thoughts to the VP of sales and 3 other members of the sales team. There was some back-and-forth discussion, and and then that was it. It was a day or so later that the VP and I ironed out the job details, and then an offer letter came through shortly afterward. Throughout the process the VP of Sales was honest, open, and transparent about what the sales team was looking for, what the responsibilities would be, how the compensation was structured, etc. It was the best interview I think I've ever had.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Q: What 3 bits of advice would you give a new salesperson? Q: How do you handle rejection?
      Answer question
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Articulate Global (New York, NY) in Sep 2024

      Interview

Meeting with a recruiter, then the Director, then panel discussion, final meeting with director. It was straightforward and easy to go through. Not much more to add other than it was easy and pretty straightforward. Yep, thats it is all I'd say.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why do you want to work here? How large are the deals you current work? What is your typical sales cycle?

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Articulate Global (New York, NY) in Sep 2021

      Interview

3rd party recruiter reached out on LI., spoke briefly. Internal recruiter reached out, set up time with another recruiter. 2nd internal recruiter call was informative, set up interview with VP of Sales. So far, the HCO cultural framework was highly promoted. VP of sales interview straightforward, pleasant, seemed to build good rapport, high level of alignment. Was keen on leveraging sales methodologies, Challenger in particular. Next step was a project, to be delivered to VP and team. Project description was poorly written, but essentially they wanted to see how I would approach selling to a net new prospect (even though the role is for a SAM). I spent several hours working on the PPT, hit every point on the "rubric". The project team interview included: - VP of Sales - Senior SAM - Sales Director - Pre-sales Specialist I presented my deck, fielded their questions, but quickly got the sense that they didn't think that I was "good enough" for the job. The feeling was mutual as I experienced them as brash and hyper-critical. Their HCO seemed to go right out the window. They spent most of the time picking apart how I use the Challenger Methodology, and offered very little in terms of feedback, and time for me to ask them questions. They said they would meet internally, and give me a decision the next business day. Next day VP sent me an email letting me know that they were not interested in making me an offer. I wasn't surprised. At least they made good on their promise to get back to me.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked some of the typical, low energy interview questions like: 1. Why do you think you are the best candidate for the job? (Really?) 2. What is the most important trait to be successful as a salesperson? 3. If your emails and calls/voicemail go unanswered from a prospect, what do you do to get a meeting? (They hated my answer to this one.)
