      SMT Trainee Interview

      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Anheuser-Busch InBev

      Interview

Long, but fun and challenging process. Online games, tests, a recorded presentation, case day and final interview panel. Due to COVID all of this happened online. There were enough opportunities to showcase yourself.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The foreseen launch of an innovation project is hindered. You can launch the prototype fully and have a 30% chance that you get 100% of the foreseen revenue, or you can launch an adjusted version where you have a 100% chance that you earn 30% of the foreseen revenues. Which one do you choose?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Anheuser-Busch InBev (Leuven) in Feb 2019

      Interview

After filling out an online application form with basic information, I had to run through a set of online tests. Although cultural fit and situational strength test appeared quite random, the outcomes are quite accurate because the participants at the following assessment day had all quite similar characteristics (open, communicative, team player). So just be yourself at the online tests - the logical reasoning test is also not too difficult. The assessment day was quite fun, with an individual interview, a programme-related team task, and a group business game. The actual outcome in both group activities do not really matter, it is more about how you deal with certain disruptions and communicate to your team members. The individual interview is quite dull because there is no interaction - the interviewer is just reading of questions without any reaction. In general, the assessment day is fun because everyone is companionable. Afterward, you get a feedback call, which you should consider when going to the next round. Next round was the final panel with some higher-ups. It will be five applicants together in one room sitting opposite to the executives. The interviewers were all open and friendly and had actual conversations with you - so don't worry. Not everyone gets asked the same questions, so you need a little bit of luck to get the ones that fit you. Make every answer count and be courageous, otherwise, they lose interest in you and don't ask any more questions. They will always try to challenge what you say. Unfortunately, the feedback afterward is pretty sloppy and generic without any real effort put into it. Although the whole application process is quite pleasant, once they lose interest in you, you're not getting rewarded for the work you put in. If you're trying to apply just for the experience of applying, I would recommend applying somewhere else as the feedback is pretty useless.
