      Future Leaders/Associate Adjuster Interview

      Dec 12, 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Providence, RI
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amica Insurance (Providence, RI) in Dec 2018

      Interview

Step 1: I applied online and found the opportunity via Indeed. Two hours later, I received an email from a recruiter asking me to contact her if I was still interested in the position and okay with relocating anywhere, Amica has an office. I called the recruiter the same day and spoke to her about the role. I asked a lot of questions about training and the relocation process. I advised her I was still interested and that I would email her a copy of my resume. Once off the phone, I emailed her my resume. Step 2: A few days later, she emailed me to complete an interview via HireVue, one week from then. During the interview, she asked me about 3-4 behavioral based questions. The rest of the interview was her informing me about the position, which has a non-negotiable salary of $50,000. She also asked me about my driving history, please be as honest possible because you will receive a company car. She advised me that I would be a great fit and the next step would a writing assessment and complete application. Step 3: The writing assessment was not too bad, but you have to think on your feet. They give you two prompts that you have to respond to an email form. Just touch up on your writing skills before taking it. The complete application is asking your job history, waiver for them to perform a background check and obtain your DMV driving record. It asks that you list your violations, even if you have some tickets or even an accident its fine, but the older the violation the more it works in your favor. Step 4: I heard back from a different recruiter about a week and a half later stating that they wanted me to come to the final interview in RI. They handle all travel expenses and will reimburse you via a visa debit card with $135. Also, you have to contact two employees who completed the Future Leaders Program as well. Please be kind and remember your conversations with these individuals because they VP's will ask you about them. They are VERY BIG ON RELOCATION and each VP will ask you about your willingness to relocate. Step 5: Final Interview You will arrive at the Marriott hotel the night before, again please be kind to everyone! Keep a copy of your receipt if you took an uber or cab from the airport because they will ask you for this. Ask for a shuttle at 8:20 AM or 8:30 AM to the Amica campus. The hotel was very nice and well- kept. Spend the evening preparing for the interview and making sure your suit is wrinkle-free. When you arrive at the campus there is another person but they are interviewing for the account manager position. You will be greeted by your host, they will have a place to store your luggage. You will go on a tour of the facility and eat your breakfast. The host advises you that they have no part in the decision making process. I am not sure how true this is, but you spend most of your day with them so I'd keep it professional and make conversation. After breakfast, you will go meet the 3 VP's that will interview you. Each VP will ask you about 3 different questions, but they are all looking for someone is charming, want to develop and grow, intelligent and can make conversation. Please engage in conversation because that's the bulk of the 30-minute interview. Also, this is your time to shine, you really have to sell your skills and why you are a good fit. Amica invests a lot of money to train their employees so they want people who will stay long-term and are a good fit. Just be yourself, and have great examples ready. Ask for a business care so you can send a thank-you email. After the interview, you eat lunch and finish the tour with them to the host. I also spoke to a trainer for the upcoming class who was in-depth regarding the 7 weeks of training. About 96% of people who work in a management position started in the Future Leader's Program. Upon conclusion of the interview, they provide you with a cab to the airport. This is the only part I did not like because they did not pay for a roundtrip ticket. If you live far from RI don't expect to get home until 10 PM or 11 PM. The next morning I sent a personalized thank you email to each VP and my host. If you felt that your interviewer had doubts about you in an area, this is your opportunity to address it. Within 2 hours of sending the emails, I received a job offer! ** They were a lot of comments about diversity and I must admit that there is a lack of diversity in the RI office, branch managers, and Future Leader's Program. There are about 3 AA and 1 Hispanic branch manager. The make-up of the last 3 classes had about 5 AA individuals. I am not sure if they have a hiring quota or if there is a lack of applicants. I am an AA and was offered the position***
