      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at American Income Life (Edmonton, AB) in Jan 2017

      Interview

They called me after finding my two-year-old resume on monster, and from the tone of the conversation, I was expecting a supervisory or clerical position in the field listed on my resume. The person I was scheduled to meet (as well as the company name from that which was dropped on the phone to that which was on the business card of the new person) were to change immediately without explanation. That alone was not necessarily a problem, but then they scheduled me for a follow up, the day of which changed from the next day to the day after, the follow up session(a so-called "competitive" interview) consisted of a seminar disquietingly reminiscent of an MLM pitch, complete with bling compilation video) and the the duplicity continued up until the moment I decided that I could not trust these people; at no time did anything scheduled/promised actually happen as it was supposed to, And this was only the third day. People, if you're going to manipulate someone, at least have the skill to perform it seamlessly. Sheesh! :)

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

I find it mildly alarming that two of the 'interviewers' were interested in finding out facts which were legally irrelevant (and verboten, mind you) for an employer to know in my country: in one particular case, family status.

      Question 2

The first interviewer also explicitly stated that perhaps I was not a good fit. Okay then, but then the interview continued and I was provided with a business card that, as mentioned earlier, bore a name which resembled neither the name I was given over the initial phone contact nor the name that was on the sign of the building.

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at American Income Life in Jun 2022

      Interview

They talk more than you do and they take all of your questions in the beginning of the interview and wait until the end to answer them. This isn't really an interview but more of a sales pitch. They are trying to sell you on joining their pyramid model. They want you to become a "manager in training" meaning every sale you make, your manager gets a cut of.. then when you become a manager you have to recruit more people to sell under you. It's ridiculous that they treat this like an interview. They don't care who you are, they just want you to sell so they can make money off of you. The job is also 100% commission, they don't offer base salaries.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What did you like about your last job? What questions do you have? Tell me about yourself Questions about how much money you need to make to pay your bills - so they can try to sell you that you can make that much money

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at American Income Life (Omaha, NE) in Aug 2020

      Interview

Not at all what I thought the job was. They purposefully hide what the job is until you get there... it’s quite ridiculous and unprofessional. It’s insurance sales... the company tries to market towards people looking for customer service or management positions.

      Manager In Training Interview

      Arlington Heights, IL
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at American Income Life (Arlington Heights, IL) in Feb 2019

      Interview

A three-step interview. Had a quick one-on-one, followed by a group interview, followed by another one-on-one. They don't really explain what you do until the last interview. I didn't find out it was a commission only job till the last interview. During the group interview they do an overview of everything and make the job sound amazing due to the money, but it's just another door-to-door sales job at the end of the day. If you're not into sales, don't bother with this company.
