Internship was posted on Glassdoor. I applied on January 13th, 2018, and got an e-mail back 10 days later on January 23rd to complete a design evaluation. I completed this the next day and heard back 5 days later with next steps to schedule a phone screen. Phone screen was done a week later and shortly after, the person I talked to e-mailed with next steps to complete a design challenge and a link to schedule a video conference for the next week. I set the date for the video conference and spent the whole week completing the design challenge. I sent in the completed challenge the day before and woke up on the morning of the set interview/video conference day to find an e-mail saying that they were cancelling my video interview because the position has been filled. I wish I heard earlier before I invested a week working on this challenge. I had no idea that they weren't waiting to finish all interviews with all candidates before sending out offers. Maybe that is just something that's not done anymore or that is just me who thinks that that hiring process goes that way. All in all, the interview process was slow but the contact person was extremely cheerful which made me want to go through with the next steps. Up until the last point of contact, I had a positive experience with Alation. Something that I wish could have been done differently was that I received a heads up or a cancellation earlier so that I wouldn't have invested more time.
