Interview
They had a pretty typical Bay Area tech interview flow, the following are their steps -> online app -> recruiter phone screen -> hiring manager screen -> on site 1 of 2 -> on site 2 of 2.
The chat with the recruiter was great, very friendly, informative and seemed excited about her role. Chat with HM went well as well, although he spent most the time talking. Was invited to an on-site with 3 peers. One was a
little arrogant/a bit flippant, made it hard to get into a groove. Questions mostly explored background/"tell me about a time", a few behavioral questions, and some scenarios/thinking through the product.
What put me off is I knew of another person applying to this role. That person's chat with the HM revealed he was basically looking to meet some "quota" by looking to fill this role with a woman. He also called out the type of he people he already made offers to which shows there is a certain profile they are looking for. Pair this with the empty talk about diversity from this company (as well as many others out here), I can't help but feel like I was some pipeline diversity quota interview as I didn’t fit that preferred profile. Zero feedback was provided from the on-site, again, leaving me to feel like I was never a serious candidate.
Affirm is an equal opportunity workplace and evaluates all candidates on the basis of their qualifications for the role and fit within the team and broader company. While diversity and inclusion are very important goals, we do not set or seek to fill quotas based on candidate demographics. We're sorry that you did not receive feedback from your interview. We appreciate your taking the time to relay your experience to us, as we are constantly striving to improve our interview process.

Interview
I don't know if they're actually hiring or trying to screen candidates to look busy. I spoke with HR first then went to the hiring manager. HR instructed me to prepare specific STAR examples on a topic and I spent hours refining those. Hiring manager gave me a personality interview for a serious senior level marketing role, then I was summarily rejected. Horrible experience and complete waste of time.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Affirm (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2019
Interview
The internal recruiter reach out with the current open role via email. After a 30min screening call with her, another 30min call with the hiring manager was scheduled. On-site interview consisted a panel of 5 team members (including the hiring manager) - all very bright and smart. Asked relevant questions to the role and directly related to my recent past experience/role.
Note to the panel: Offering food and snacks on-site is not a differentiator anymore. Most of the startups have been offering it since 10Yrs.
