Acel Power Software Engineer interview questions

Received a response to my job application after 2 weeks - they asked for interview times that would happen a month later(!) After a month, I received an automated email that I had been rejected before even interviewing. How can a company decide whether a candidate is suitable before they've even had a chance to be interviewed?
