I applied through university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Accenture in Oct 2019
Interview
Read to the end for the reason my review is negative.
The first-round interview was a quick behavioral interview. Mostly basic questions (run me through your resume, why consulting, why Accenture, etc). Had a good experience with my interviewer and was invited to the final round.
The final round was an on-campus interview roulette with one behavioral and one case interview. Behavioral was mostly basic questions again with some added detail (asking about teamwork, when have you used analysis? etc.) and the case was a qualitative case where they presented multiple opinions from C suite members of a company, ask you to prioritize which initiatives the company should pursue. Pretty cool case premise, actually.
I saw some red flags early on, however. The recruiter came to my school (a couple of hours' drive from major cities) a week earlier to do some practice casing with students and remarked that they couldn't convince any other alumni to make the trip with her. Big turn off. Then they were super disorganized and their presentation slides were messy. Not a good first impression. After my final round, I never heard back from Accenture. No rejection email, nothing. I reached out to my recruiter a month later to check in. No response. My college career office reached out on behalf of the students in the final round, no response. I asked around and I discovered one student from my interview cohort got an offer, no one else heard anything. While my actual interactions with my interviewers were great, the recruiting effort was wholly unprofessional and disrespectful to the applicants and even the university.
The initial stage of the hiring process is a concise 10-15 minute phone screen. This call is strictly dedicated to assessing the candidate's eligibility based on foundational criteria and evaluating their past behaviour and experience through structured questions. These questions are exclusively framed using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to elicit specific, tangible examples of how the candidate has handled professional challenges and responsibilities. However, despite the brevity and structured nature of this initial screening, the follow-up process is marked by a significant lack of communication. Candidates who complete this phone screen are typically left without any updates, as the company consistently ceases contact—a phenomenon commonly referred to as "ghosting"—for a minimum period of two weeks following the call.
