      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at AT&T (Fort Worth, TX) in Jan 2013

      Interview

The interview process took about 2 weeks total. I applied online and was emailed to come for testing 4 days later. The testing gauges your knowledge on Customer Service practices, your ability to follow directions, and how well you pay attention to detail. Immediately after testing, we had to wait to find out if we passed. I passed so I was given the address to the actual location I would be working at and was scheduled for an interview that Friday. AT&T's interview is not your typical interview. It is an oral assessment. I was asked a series of questions (about 25) in regards to prior experience, customer service, and knowledge of collections practices. Afterwards I was asked to wait in the lobby while they evaluated my responses. 10 minutes later I was told I passed and congratulated on landing the job. I then took 30 minutes to listen to a rep take calls to get an idea on what I'd be doing. Afterwards I was given a brief tour of the facility and told HR would contact me with the next steps which would include, background check, drug test, and official job offer if I passed those. I was contacted by HR that afternoon and I completed my background check info that evening (which was a Friday) and my drug test was completed the following Monday. By Tuesday all of my results had come back and by Wednesday, I was contacted with a job offer!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

If you got a call from a customer who has received a notice stating her bill is past due, she has a good payment history and normally pays on time, although she received a notice, she insists she has already made the payment. You are showing no record of this payment on her account. How would you handle this call?
