      Cons

There are no opportunities to work in teams located in other areas unless you are physically present in that location. While collaboration with remote teams is common due to network services consumed by products, being part of a team is restricted to those who are on-site. Remote work, in any capacity, is not an option—this has become a clear policy within the company, regardless of medical or safety concerns unless they are extreme. Human is a core-value at this company, yet there is an alarming lack of consideration for the well-being of employees. The recent office closures due to future focus of operations have had a severe impact on colleagues' transportation, time management, and overall safety. Employees have been forced to endure long commutes, sitting in heavy traffic, and working longer hours just to compensate. Colleagues were employed 10-30 years ago in the city where they live and have built their life and are now forced to travel to another city that does not fit in with their current lifestyle. The solution? Quit if it does not suit you. This lack of regard for colleague well-being is deeply troubling. Trust, a core value of this company, has also eroded. The requirement for constant monitoring of employees’ adherence to the office attendance rule reflects a disturbing lack of trust in the ability of colleagues to manage their own time. It is disheartening to know that, while employees are expected to manage workloads and customer data with responsibility, their commitment to time management and personal responsibilities is continuously questioned. This was never an issue before but have now become a constant stress. In the past, working from home was allowed. Two days in the office were adhered to and colleagues were able to be on-site with their team in their own city. Productivity was never compromised, and the focus was always on the quality of work and the success of the team. Colleagues were able to better plan their personal life that did not interfere with work and vice-versa. Now, this has shifted dramatically. Productivity is no longer the priority; it is now all about physical presence, with little regard for the realities that employees face, such as childcare issues, safety concerns, long distance driving on very heavy roads or transport difficulties. This shift in priorities is adding on to the anxiety and stress among employees. Personally my productivity has severely been affected. I start my in-office day tired and stressed, even if I have been up for hours, due to driving congestion and safety on the roads. Previously I could work from home when my car is being serviced or my child is sick. This also did not affect my work or commitments. Now, this just causes undue stress and there is no clear policy how to deal with this. Colleagues are now forced to take leave in these situations which is just completely unnecessary.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. It’s great to know that our benefits and flexible working arrangements were valuable to you during your time at Sage. We’re sorry to read your comments on communication, support, and working hours. While we recognise that experiences can vary across teams and functions, consistency in the experiences designed to support and empower our colleagues is critical. When this consistency is missed, it can understandably be frustrating. Please be assured that your feedback has been taken seriously and will be reviewed as we continue to evolve how we work. We wish you all the best in your career moving forward.

      Cons

Culture in some departments needs to be improved, different areas of the business have different ways of working and it is inconsistent. For example, someone unofficially doing 4 days work in one department but being told this isn't available in another

      Cons

I’ve been with the company for a few years now, even before the pandemic hit. When COVID shut everything down, the company did a great job adapting so we could all work from home. And guess what? We still nailed our goals and kept things running smoothly. So, I’m really puzzled by the new rule that we have to be in the office at least three days a week. It feels like a step back, especially since we’ve proven we can be just as productive from home. If some people aren’t hitting their targets, maybe they need a different solution, but it doesn’t seem fair to make everyone come in because of that. On a personal note, this change is a huge hit to my work-life balance. My family has grown during this time, and being able to work from home has been a lifesaver. Now, with a commute that takes me 3 hours and 20 minutes round trip on a good day, it’s almost impossible for my husband and me to juggle everything with the kids. I hope the company will reconsider this policy or at least offer some support for those of us who are really struggling with the commute and childcare. Maybe there’s a better way to handle this that doesn’t put so much strain on everyone.

We appreciate your feedback and have read through your comments. Please note that our hybrid working approach is an important element of the way we work at Sage that is complemented by other benefits such as paid time to volunteer, the ability to work away for up to 10 weeks a year and free well-being support tools. We recently also answered several colleagues' questions about the new 3-day policy. If you've not seen this communication on our internal intranet site, it sheds more light on how colleagues will be supported as they adhere to our updated hybrid structure. More information about what we offer can be found here https://www.glassdoor.co.uk/Benefits/Sage-United-Kingdom-Benefits-EI_IE1150.0,4_IL.5,19_IN2.htm - Thanks for taking the time to leave your review. We’ll continue to work hard to improve how we enable colleagues to thrive.
