What is working from home like at STEMCELL Technologies?

Pretty decent benefits and wfh home a majority of the time

They preach "culture" but upper management is pretty clueless on the work/projects individual teams were working on. There was also not much opportunity to climb the ladder based on their structure.

Love the amazing and talented people I work with every day, great benefits, flexibility to work from home (that will soon be taken away)

Not compensated fairly and efforts are not being recognized, but people are expected to accommodate for the loss from recent layoffs

STEMCELL has been a place of learning and enjoyment for me over the last 10+ years. Personally, I am tired of employees complaining and putting no suggestions forward to make changes. These same employees complain about their ability to not work from home. In a lab based job, and a company that never had work from home terms prior to the pandemic, employees need to be thankful what they do have.

No cons, they operate like any other company- balancing budgets, revenue, and employees with an ever changing market. I think its very uncommon to see a company of our size never experience layoffs.

Huge Communication Gap issue which results in confusion

- Everyone is friendly, helpful, and patient - Ability to work from home

- Sometimes workload can be too much and you will have to do OT

-Team dynamic is positive. -Work from home. -Benefits are great. -Flexible PTO and work schedule.

-My Manager once tried to promote a new hire just after their 3 month probation period ended to a Supervisor position instead of people who have been there for years and had more knowledge (nepotism?). So tenure tends to seem unimportant (we were told tenure doesn't play a big factor into those decisions as well so...at least in my department). -You can work as hard as you want and jump through hoops of flames, but it won't really matter since you seldom get promoted: positions don't open up very often (in my department), causing people to coast if they can as they rarely need filling. -Lots of multitasking and being asked to take on tasks that are outside of your title's description. -There is alot. ALOT of information to absorb. Inversely, many other departments seem to LACK this depth when it comes to training. This causes a ton of miscommunication, errors and delays. Our Manager sends them feedback every time (for the nth time on many topics), but we still see those issues take place on a regular basis. Just bad structuring and communication.

- Inefficient and over complicated processes that are not scalable - Lack of transparency throughout the company - After years of continued successful growth, the inability to adjust to a down period which led to many reactive layoffs of great employees - Too many on-going projects without clear focus on the actual deliverables and timelines around them.

Great co-workers, WFH but it's being taken away.

- As per all reviews STEMCELL has been going downwards by cosmic speed. Over the past 1.5 year we experienced 3 rounds of lay offs, no wage increases for 2 years and the cherry on top from leadership - mandated everyone to return to office with no flexibility. - Allan our CEO recently sent out an email praising Amazon as a company and how well the business is doing by "returning to office". However, it seems that the fact that Amazon is one of the most hated company by consumers and employees doesn't matter. For some reason STEMCELL (a research and logic based company ) is only looking at one metric and not reflecting on other, such as, Amazon's turnover rate which is 150%. Not to mention the fact, that Amazon just closed all their warehouses in Quebec when employees unionized (1700 people lost their jobs). So from this we can really see what company STEMCELL is striving to be. - Per CEOs email, we can submit requests for in office exemptions, but the best part? His daughter is the head of HR, good luck to everyone who will try!

Lack of growth opportunities, departments are siloed, work is repetitive and uninspiring.
