If you have any semblance of a personal life, do not work here. I was a salaried General Manager, leading a team of hourly paid employees, including the Assistant Manager. The hours you have to work in order to get everything done is horrible. The pay is great if you don’t mind selling your soul and not having a personal life. A publicly traded company, Gap Inc cares mote about shareholder profits than they do their own people. They bury the costs of constant changes in direction at the store level, where teams are expected to execute and deliver beyond reason, to appease senior leadership. Gap Inc is an old boys club of fearing your leaders, kissing butt to get ahead.

Advice to Management

Find an operations team with a backbone, and give them back control of the brand. Having millennial aged merchants with little to no practical experience make company wide decisions is not sustainable. When it comes to company culture, try walking your own walk, before you expect it from your store teams.
