Opportunity for varied experience: Working through a staffing agency like Manpower offers a chance to gain experience in different industries and job sites, which can be valuable for career development. Pathway to full-time roles: Manpower positions, often contract-to-hire, can serve as a "foot in the door," allowing workers and employers to assess fit before committing to a permanent position. Consistent work and pay: Manpower works hard to find work for employees, providing opportunities for steady hours and convenient weekly pay. Training and development resources: Manpower invests in its talent through programs like MyPath, which offers training and development to help workers gain relevant skills. Efficient placement process: The company is often quick to connect individuals with job opportunities and guides them through the hiring process efficiently. Work-life balance: Some reviews highlight that Manpower offers good work-life balance on assignments and predictable schedules.

      Cons

Working for Manpower, a large staffing agency, comes with several commonly reported disadvantages based on employee and contract worker reviews. These often mirror general issues with agency work, focusing on job insecurity, lower pay, and inconsistent management.

      Pros

You will be busy and easy to meet goals

      Cons

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience, and if I had the option, I would rate them a zero. The job goals, such as making 60 calls and submitting 5 applications per job site, were easily achievable. However, the major issue lies in the promises made during the hiring process. Initially, they assured me that after successfully completing a 90-day probationary period, Manpower would extend a permanent position offer. Despite my efforts, when I inquired about a pay increase during onboarding, I was informed that everyone receives the same rate, regardless of location or experience. They emphasized that post-probation, I would become eligible for a pay raise, benefits, and bonuses. Additionally, during the interview, they mentioned Manpower's commitment to covering college tuition. However, after the 90-day period, during which my performance exceeded expectations, I was informed that the transition to permanent status is solely based on "seniority," and benefits are reserved for permanent employees only. Furthermore, college tuition assistance is limited to full-time permanent employees or becomes available after 6 months to a year. Additionally, there were no bonuses after the initial 90 days. If you're in urgent need of a job, this opportunity might suffice. However, if you seek stability and opportunities for growth, this company falls short of its promises.

Be VERY careful if you need health insurance

      Pros

      Paychecks come through on time.

      Cons

I went to work for an overseas company who uses Manpower to process payroll and expense reports and administer benefits. During the hiring process I asked for details on health insurance so I would know how to go about salary negotiations with the overseas employer. Long story short, Manpower sent me documentation prior to starting with them stating that my insurance premiums would total $5145 annually should I go to work through them. After going to work for them and waiting out the mandatory 85 day waiting period to become eligible for insurance they informed me that my annual premiums for that same plan would actually total $29934. Essentially I was expected to take a $25k pay cut within 3 months of starting. Immediately upon asking what had happened, Manpower went into 'cover our tracks' mode and essentially told me that I should have known better than to trust the numbers that were sent to me initially and that they weren't willing to put any effort into rectifying the situation. At the end of the day I ended up with a plan from the public exchange that provided half the coverage they promised for twice the cost they initially offered. One thing I observed while shopping for insurance on the public exchange (in my state at least) is that in order to qualify for certain plans they ask you if you have the option to get reasonable insurance through your employer. They define reasonable plans as 1) costing less than 8% of your income and 2) covering more than 60% of an average person's needs. Manpower offers 2 plans to associates. One of them is so outrageously expensive that it won't meet the affordability criteria for anyone making less than $300k. The other doesn't provide any coverage for emergency care, hospital visits, etc. and so won't meet the coverage criteria. Manpower's health insurance plans have been designed so that they can advertise that they offer insurance while simultaneously forcing you to go elsewhere for coverage once you're on board. Another minor observation is that the expense reporting system is very archaic. To even be able to watch the training video on how to use it you need to have Flash player, which is a media player that went end of life about 5 years ago. The last posted update on the system is from 2017 when they announced the introduction of a mobile app. The mobile app requires a passcode that nobody at Manpower will give out anymore because the app doesn't work.
