What is health insurance like at Genentech?
Pros
Mission-driven progressive company division helping patients afford expensive genetically engineered medicines.
Cons
Access Solutions does not hire directly, they work through 3rd party staffing agencies for a significant portion of their overall workforce. You are a contract employee. The chances of getting hired on as an FTE are inflated during the hiring process. The staffing agency I worked for offered minimal benefits, no sick time, and the absolute minimum in healthcare as required by law. Working under these conditions with the uncertain hopes of getting hired as an FTE employee was stressful. Hypocritical and ironic that a biotech company inventing cures for critical disease states operates in this manner.
Advice to Management
At the very least vet staffing agencies to ensure all contract employees have access to affordable healthcare and some modicum of basic benefits. Better yet devote more resources to the hiring process and hire more non-contract employees.
