Fight Benefits are nice. Pay is really bad!
Pros
The benefits are nice, free flights and the health benefits are really good.
Cons
The pay is very bad, and the culture is not much better, although diversity is a big theme at the company, and they walk the walk. They also don't seem to value their employees, and we watch as they single out employees and treat them with an over management style that appears to be an attempt to make you want to quit. We have seen it time and time again. I believe in unions, but I don't think the one representing the Alaska employees is effective at ALL! Back to the pay. You have to work 60-plus hours a week just to make enough to pay your rent in Seattle and the extra hours you get by picking up shifts from co-works. It is not overtime pay, it is straight-time, nothing more. SeaTac recently increased the minimum wage, but Alaska lobbied and won to keep their pay below the new minimum wage. Would I recommend a job at Alaska? No, McDonald's pays more than Alaska, and I can only guess that it is a lot less stressful.
