A big shout-out to our Senior Operations Manager, Mike State, as he celebrates his 10-year anniversary with Sunstates Security! Mike's journey is a remarkable story of commitment and professional growth. He started his career in the field as an armed security officer, demonstrating his potential immediately by earning a quick promotion to Site Supervisor. His dedication didn't stop there: after just 18 months, he was promoted to Operations Manager, and four years later, he achieved his current role as Senior Operations Manager. Mike is a vital part of the regional infrastructure, having a hand in training local employees, including new managers. His commitment is tireless; he is always there to help, ensuring that operations and procedures are done the right way, every time. VP of Regional Operations Kalvin Spells visited sites in the Los Angeles region, accompanied by Regional Director Andrew Morey and Operations Manager Megan Liberty. During their rounds, they focused on recognizing team members and checking on site operations. Individuals highlighted included Post Captain Tiffany James, a newer team member who is already receiving praise for her enthusiasm, Post Captain Deandre Dubose, who is doing amazing work at a new site; Post Captain Aniaya Hundley received congratulations on her recent promotion; and Post Captain Christian Zepeda was demonstrating his dedication by training new flex Officer Shauntee Smith. We have three stories to celebrate the dedication and professionalism of our Greensboro, North Carolina, team! First, kudos to Officer Patrick Poss for his exceptional service at an aviation support facility. Recognizing a high rate of badge malfunctions, Officer Poss conducted a proactive technical analysis that led to the quick resolution of a program error in the client’s electronic system. His keen attention to detail sets a high standard for service. Second, the Greensboro region successfully launched operations at a new large manufacturing facility in Lexington, NC, on Labor Day. Despite ongoing construction, Site Supervisor Tanner Bowden, Officer Vidal Lyles, and Officer Karizma Brown ensured the entire staff were on site and ready to go for a seamless start! Regional Manager Joseph Mack was on site to show his support and thank the team. Finally, a huge congratulations to Account Manager Wallie Pinkney on receiving his 5-year award! Wallie began his career with us in August 2020 as a Site Supervisor at a research facility. Drawing on his almost 20 years of prior private security management experience, he earned a promotion to Account Manager two years later. Michael has been a vital part of the Sunstates Security team for over six years. We’re grateful for his leadership and determination guiding our success in the region. Michael is a seasoned professional with over 35 years of extensive experience spanning law enforcement and corporate security. He joined Sunstates in the South Florida region in April 2019 as an Operations Manager, quickly earning a promotion to Regional Manager months later, and then advancing to Regional Director for all Florida markets in June 2025. Michael is known for his proactive leadership, operational precision, and consistent delivery of results. Michael's comprehensive skillset was developed across several key roles, including Senior Operations Manager at a competing security firm for over two years, as well as the Director of Security for a professional sports organization in the Atlanta market. Additionally, he served as President of a transportation and protective services firm for 15 years. Before contract security, Michael worked as a police sergeant in Davie, FL, for over a decade.
