Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) is a core tenet of our Board, Management and Staff. We marked Earth Day in April with a neighbourhood clean-up, and collected 3 bags of garbage. Just doing our part to help beautify our environment and support clean, green spaces.
For National Truth and Reconciliation Day, our team came out in support of residential school survivors and their families, and we helped to raise awareness of how Every Child Matters. In addition, our Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity and Belonging committee arranged for a presentation from a representative of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.
WOW! At the June Staff Meeting our CEO launched a new charitable-giving employee matching program. Pro-Demnity is helping employees to increase our collective impact on communities and people in need through generosity and caring.
For World Health Day 2022 our CEO Bruce Palmer unveiled 3 new initiatives that support employees in their efforts to maintain physical, mental and emotional health: 1. Wellness Allowance (up to $1200 per employee, annually, for approved physical health, mental health and wellness activities) 2. Headspace (online app to enhance mental health) 3. Disconnect Policy (addressing the need for all of us to be able to step away from work, minimize burnout and other health care implications) These augment existing initiatives such as personal days, additional paid non-statutory holidays, summer hours and competitive benefits, including access to an employee assistance program.
At the January staff meeting our CEO and COO championed the importance of health and wellness, de-stigmatizing mental health. Staff were engaged in a chat discussion answering four critical questions. Every year we support Bell Let's Talk Day, and throughout the year, provide opportunities to talk about mental health - especially as we're all working at home during the pandemic.
