Every day, people face financial challenges that force them to make hard decisions about their money. Millions are forced to stretch their paychecks to make ends meet, all too familiar with the stress that arrives toward the end of the month. Too many financial service companies exploit these challenges by selling expensive and even predatory financial products and services like high-interest credit cards, payday loans, and overdraft fees. At Chime, we do the opposite. Our financial products are designed to work for everyday people, not profit from them. We're pleased to see that many banks have recently started eliminating or reducing overdraft fees—something we believe is inherently good for consumers. We’ve saved our members billions of dollars in overdraft fees and pioneered the way in fee-free overdraft with our SpotMe® product, which allows our members to overdraft fee-free up to $200. Since then, the industry has cut down its overreliance on overdraft fees. This is what unlocking financial progress for everyday people looks like: putting billions of dollars in overdraft fees back into the pockets of those who deserve it—our members. 🔓

We're excited to share some big news—the official launch of the Chime Scholars Foundation! 📣🧑🎓 The Chime Scholars Foundation is a nonprofit that provides support, mentorship, and renewable scholarships up to $5,000 to help everyday people do more for themselves, their families, and their communities. We believe that higher education, whether that’s through a university, community college, transfer program, vocational training, or trade school, can unlock new pathways to financial progress. And that’s what we’re all about at Chime. 🔓 After a pilot program in the ‘22-’23 school year, to date, we’re proud to have invested $2 million in scholarships and support for over 300 students. 💚 And it doesn’t stop there. Over 300 Chimers came together across our three offices and virtual workspaces for the 2023 Chime Hackathon, an opportunity for Chimers to switch up their day-to-day work and collaborate on exciting new projects! 🥳💻👏 This year, the hackathon went hybrid, and Chimers made their way into our three offices to build together in person and virtually.
