Only filling out this section because I can't leave it blank.

Cons

One of the worst thing about the company is that, whoever is reading this from company will be trying harder to find out who wrote this review rather than addressing and opening their eyes to the issues I am writing about. Firstly, work life balance is a myth at this company. They like to portray things to be different to how they actually are on their website, socials etc. So don't be fooled. You will do 8;30 - 5;30 and if you come in at 8;29 you will be called late. Lunch hours are often cut short. You will also be expected to work out of hours and are often contacted out of hours on personal mobile numbers with no hesitation or pay. You will also be expected to attend unpaid out of hours meetings. The Southampton office is a converted garage which is ridiculously cold in the winter and ridiculously hot in summer. The Manchester office is much nicer and more modern, having seeing and being in both the difference is crazy. One winter the CEO banned heaters when it was near on sub-zero in the Southampton office, people were working wearing coats and gloves in an 'office', Staff questioned the legality of an office being this cold and being a safe work environment at the time, I'm pretty sure it was illegal. The office definitely goes against many health and safety regulations. There's also no hot water, no designated lunch area, very loud etc. but its okay because they have a pool table! Senior Management will sit in their office and watch / listen to CCTV to check if you are 'working' or talking negatively about them? In all my years of working I have never seen anything like it. Big brother-esque. If you so much as pick up your mobile phone they will be onto you. Their CCTV is not for security more for watching their staff, you can tell by the placement of the cameras and how often they are sat upstairs watching it! Even writing this I can't believe this is something they did. The whole 'service' the company provides is poor, from what I could tell they have barely changed the technology and equipment they sell over the last 8 years. They are selling outdated Telephone Systems on 7 years contracts which are very over priced. It all appears to be a money making scheme for the CEO with the illusion of helping the customers. That's not to say staff don't care about the service they are giving but I don't believe the CEO cares about anything other than the money in his account. They are also understaffed hugely in operations from what I could tell during my time there, they are all running around like stressed headless chickens with the phones ringing constantly. Staff are often bought to tears from stress, there wasn't a week that went by in my time there that someone hadn't cried. You can also see their lack of good service in the customer reviews on Google/Trustpilot however the reviews are massively saturated with 5* reviews which are done upon install by the engineers as they are incentivised to do so, but those reviews hold no substance. It saturates out the truthful bad reviews to keep the rating as high as possible. During the pandemic WFH options were scarce and frowned upon should you have requested to do so. Not to mention the outright disrespectful view the company had on an actual pandemic, disregarding its legitimacy. They don't trust any of their work force besides the main 'clique'. If you disagree or speak up against what they believe in you will be coerced out the door one way or another. The ego of the CEO is too outlandish to put into words, it's similar to a dictatorship and he is one of the most immature and manipulative people I have ever met and or worked with. He likes to hire young staff so they are more susceptible to the manipulation and will be cheaper to employ (underpaid). He will happily spend 100s of thousands on cars but will turn his nose up at a deserved pay rise for his staff. CEO is also very unprofessional in the workplace, swearing at staff, disregarding mental health concerns etc. Cult. The company is very very cult like, you will see that in other reviews here and they aren't lying. The cult like tactics are prominent throughout the company if you don't conform you are immediately left out and seen as a lesser person and they will make your life even more of a misery whilst working there. I feel bad for a lot of the 18-25 year olds there who are being massively manipulated and blinded by these 'incentives' of going to Ibiza, Monaco etc. When they are being over worked and underpaid but a lot of them don't know any better and when the boss says "Jump" they say "How high?". Sad to see really, careers being wasted before your eyes. Avoid Avoid Avoid, funny thing is like I said at the beginning I already know that senior management will be running round stressing trying to work out who wrote this and how they can get it taken down. Truth hurts, sort it out. Wonder why your staff retention is so low??

Pros

There are none. Simply none. Other that some of the other staff that have left can bond over the trauma and bad experiences they had.

Cons

Oooh here we go, welcome to the worst company going! If you have no morals, don't value your wellbeing and mental health, and you also want to line the pockets of a rude, unprofessional and childish CEO, you've come to the right place ! The office is a shambles, it's too cold in the winter, too hot in the summer and just isn't equipped to be comfortable and work properly ( but it's okay because there's a fridge full of drinks !) . The company lies to customers about buying them out of their contracts, they just work their buyout into the contract that yotel will sell them so they're technically paying for both without knowing. Also, 7 years is a joke for a phone system, its just so the CEO can milk the profits and fly away to some exotic place where personality doesn't matter, just the insta pics do! Speaking of the CEO, he claims he isn't materialistic yet drives millions of pounds worth of cars, flies in private jets, wears clothes worth more than his staffs salaries. Its just a joke. Saying he wants to do the best for people is a total lie, he's only in it for himself. He could sell one of the lambos, give everyone a 2k bonus at Christmas ( life changing for staff) and still have more money left than what he gives away. He sees no value in people and has often been extremely rude and nasty to staff. Not to mention spying on them with the cameras in the office. There's no progression at this company either. So if you want to be stuck in the same role for years, earning little money and lining the pockets of the CEO, go ahead. But if you value your mental health, have good morals and want to work somewhere you can build a career. Yotel is not it !! Also, don't be fooled by the 5 star reviews on here, they're written by HR after they get a bad review to try and mask how terrible this company is. Rant over, save yourself whilst you can.

We are responding to some of the comments made. We are currently developing the office and all employees have been communicated to. In warmer weather we have fans purchased by the Company in place. In the winter there is heating provided as the welfare of our employees is paramount. Mental health has been mentioned in this review and as a Company we support employees with paid time off to attend appointments and to work from home when required. We also have two L2 mental health first aiders present to support those who require any additional support at work. With the mention of charity from the reviewer, I would like to clarify our CEO supports a range of charities including donations for MacMillian, Teenage Cancer Trust and the NHS. The CEO has also introduced paid time off for blood donating and all employees can have 2 paid days per year to do volunteer work in the community. I will not comment on any CEO’s lifestyle in any Company, however I would like to finish by notifying readers of this post the Company and the CEO is dedicated to be competitive and has introduced some leading benefits including commission on a range of roles and bonuses which people are rewarded with throughout the year.

Pros

Some nice staff, social events, decent laptop

Cons

No progression, toxic work culture, you're expected to eat sleep and breath Yo Telecom and if you dare to think otherwise you will be shown the door. Leaving Yo was the best decision I ever made. Abysmal office conditions that I'm pretty sure go against many health and safety regulations. No hot water to even wash your hands. Upper management spend more time watching people on the CCTV than actually developing their staff. Constant lying to customers and complaints never being dealt with effectively. Asking customers to remove their negative reviews. Bullying culture, micro management, being treated like a child. Such a high staff turnover, Yo sounds like an amazing place to work, you're sold a dream and then the rug is pulled from beneath your feet as soon as you start.

Hello and thank you for your review. We are happy to see you enjoyed our social events, colleagues and equipment during your time with the company and are sorry to see you found other areas of your time with Yo unsatisfactory, this is certainly not what we aim for. We always work hard to take on board and action change in line with feedback. We have started implementing clearer progression routes for our teams so that available paths are clear and hope to have these rolled out across all teams soon. We have also implemented feedback sessions between our customers and our COO/CEO so that we can constantly improve the service we are providing in line with their reviews. I also just wanted to assure you that we do have hot water in our offices. Thanks again for your feedback and we wish you all the best! - HR
