I worked at Wickes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was lucky to have extremely good managers at Wickes Wimbledon, other stores I have worked at struggled more.

    Cons

Occsaional Understaffing, apart from that it is generic retails

    Advice to Management

Cut off the low performers, don't put up with them for so long.

    Pros

Job verity is good, no two days are the same. earnings potential is high and you are mainly in control of this. Put the work in and you will be rewarded

    Cons

Unsociable working hours including weekends. This can be difficult if you have a family however over the last few years the culture has changed to be more family friendly

    Advice to Management

Don’t micro manage as much as you do. We do this job because we love it. All this management is killing our love for the job which ultimately effects sales

I have been working at Wickes part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great Colleagues
Friendly and grateful customers make it a pleasure to work here.
Competent management: not afraid to put their foot down if you're taking the mickey.
Store bonus is good when you get it

    Cons

Low pay if you have to make a living off of it.
Products you have to sell are sometimes low quality
Managers are nearly always hired from outside: don't join if you're looking for a decent career. I have seen colleagues trained and given extra responsibility for no extra pay with the constant promise of a management position that never occurs.

    Advice to Management

Improve the quality of goods so we can take more pride in our work

I worked at Wickes full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are None whats so ever

    Cons

Codes to in store promotions were not written down or stored and you had to memorise them.

No progression or say on what department you wish to be on.

Expected to learn A LOT within your first month, from memorising codes, product understanding, and knowing where everything is within the store.

The Shift patterns were atrocious. You're expected to do an evening shift one day and then come in early morning the next, this does not give you the 15 hour rest period that is required.

    Advice to Management

No point giving advice to managment. They won't listen.
