Pros

I worked with incredibly talented people devoted to providing unbiased and factual reporting to the people of New Jersey.

Cons

There are just to many to list . A former colleague said to me over 8 years ago that management refused to adapt or even entertain the idea of adapting to the digital era. He predicted this would lead to the demise of this organization. He was 100% correct. It was the bloated egos of those in power in NY that destroyed NJ PBS. They would have survived the lack of funding had they listened. They had no interest in NJ and the public service we provided. Anyone who had a back bone is long gone. HR is an absolute joke. I went from loving my job to being forced out by the powers that be for questioning what was an illegal policy.

Horrendous management

Pros

You will meet some talented people doing all of the grunt work. Decent benefits (although they’ve gotten worse and worse every passing year)

Cons

Management is asleep at the wheel and is often rewarded with raises and promotions for keeping the lights on. Meanwhile, low level employees wages are stagnant (raises were frozen during Covid but never came back for us). They would rather hire “consultants” for 100k+ a year so that they can tell them how to manage the company. If you are a young person looking to get a foot in at a media company, this is not the place for you. You will be disregarded and probably stay in an entry level position for years and years, it will not be a net benefit to your career.
