Pros

It is a great place to work if you need 2 to 3 months more worked time to get your UI. Just look at the CEO or comment on one of his ideas and get a free pass to UI. It is a great chance to grow as the churn of employees is great.

Cons

Well over the last 10 years Vircom has gone from 100 to 19 people !!! each one has less then 3 yrs experience, serious. Over the last 2 months Vircom's senior developper has left, Its Support Lead and pre sales rep have gone. We are in trouble and management puts pressure on those who honestly dont know. The company is in a low budget building which loses power on a quarterly basis, We support clients worldwide but are not a global company. we have no CRM No tangible plans for the future and over the last many years we never stuck to a plan. Maybe we need someone with management and planning skills

Pros

Some really great people somehow managed to get roped into working there.

Cons

Where to begin? CEO holds monthly meetings to essentially paraphrase the last Steve Jobs or Richard Branson editorial he read; even if it contradicts LAST month's 'blueprint to success'. There were 3 burnouts in progress (out of appx. 15 total employees at last count) during my employment there. Simultaneously. New CEO is clearly motivated solely by a desire to give the place a fresh coat of paint and sell. While that's a great plan if there are only two people cashing in on that sale (sets 'em up for life) everyone who scrambled to meet those deadlines (did I mention the 3 burnouts?) is left behind, lucky to still have a job after the sale. However, if you want to be taken advantage of and led by a magic 8-ball, Vircom is the place for you.

Pros

Close minded management. Some of the directors have self security issues and thinks they knows everything and that seems true when you first work with \them until they opens their mouth. Then you realize that they know nothing about nothing. Unless anything is cleared by some of the directors at Vircom they get upset and even if your idea makes sense and looks like it could do very well, they turn down your idea because they doesn't want you to look better then them. The directors tend to to micromanage who ever is under them and some are pathological liars so it makes it hard to trust anything they say. No one department trusts management at the company and many are looking to move on to other companies with real opportunities. The products that they develop are so far behind the industry and behind the market (2 years behind in some cases) that by the time its developed they will either give up because they will not be able to compete or sell the company because they will not be able to compete.

Cons

hardly any training, management will push you to the limit, no appreciation for the work that you do and you are expected to work overtime and not get paid for it, directors will take your ideas and present it as their own to the owner of the company
