Be careful of this place

Pros

Nice office, close to station

Cons

You must be very careful before accepting a role at Vanity Group. The culture, when I worked there, was one of bullying and harassment on a daily basis. Very poor management choices, constant bottlenecks, unrealistic delivery expectations, with absolutely no way to have your voice heard and to feel safe (mentally and emotionally) at work. I have seen the improved reviews of Vanity Group over the last year or so, but I find it very hard to believe the Senior Management could have changed that much since my time there. Work practices and hours were unsustainable for everyone working there. Having left and joined other businesses since, you realise how hard it is to repair the mental scars left by this place, but for those in the same boat as me it is possible to recover from working at Vanity Group after a while. If you have a job offer anywhere else, I would recommend considering it.

Pros

At my time with Vanity Group I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenges, opportunities, and excitement of working for this start-up business, which has grown from strength to strength, both within Australia and internationally. The Founder & Managing Director is very visionary with amazing ideas for his company, which has provided me with the opportunity to advance my career quickly, being promoted across departments. The Managing Director is very supportive and flexible, and has personally helped me on many occasions. I love the caring and family-run environment Vanity Group offers. He always has time to talk with you and listens your ideas and feedback. The Managing Director is very flexible with holidays and time off, with hard work, loyalty and commitment recognised and rewarded. The company is fast-paced, ambitious, where no day is the same. There is constant variety, with something new and exciting happening every day. One of the great things about working for Vanity Group are the amazing skincare brands the business owns and produces, which makes you proud to be here. Vanity Group is not for the feint-hearted. Go-getters progress fast. Under-performers are quickly exposed.

Cons

Little shopping available as office not located in the CBD Sometimes noisy

Toxic environment with favouritism

Pros

Cool brands, loads of freebies, snacks, office lunches, and the industry is exciting to work in. Some colleagues are genuinely lovely, but unfortunately, that’s overshadowed by the overall culture.

Cons

The work environment is toxic and riddled with extreme favoritism. A small group of people is treated with clear preferential treatment, creating an atmosphere of unfairness and division. Environment is very immature and not at all professional. Immense pressure from senior leaders and scare tactics are the norm, leading to poor morale where staff frequently vent frustrations to one another. High turnover is a glaring issue—many employees leave, not because they’re bad at their jobs as management would like to suggest, but because of the unbearable environment. The narrative is often spun to shift blame onto those who leave, rather than addressing problems.
