Pros

This company is really something else. Forget that it's a remote-first company, and that it's in a booming and exciting industry; the culture and support we get from senior management, especially the CEO, is incredible. This company listens to us and enables us to do our absolute best at our jobs. There is clear and detailed instruction on what you need to do to be considered good at your job, but also enough space for creativity, innovation and self-agency. Managers here are not "bosses"; they are leaders and mentors who care about the wellbeing and growth of their team members. Micromanagement is NOT a part of our culture here - you are given the space and trust to lead your own projects, come up with your own ideas and see them through - and management is there to support you when you need it. Work-life balance is also very much encouraged here; everyone respects working hours. While this period of COVID caused a lot of companies to downsize, Uscreen is actually getting stronger and bigger because of it! COVID has caused the video industry to boom, making our company more stable than ever before, and giving me, and everyone else on the team, a huge sense of security when it comes to our jobs, which is such a privilege at a time like this.

Cons

Sometimes it's hard going for long periods of time not seeing your teammates in person. The company tries to host as many retreats as it possibly can throughout the year, but for instance with corona right now, our retreat this spring was cancelled and we're not sure if we'll be able to get around to it any time soon with the current pandemic. It can also be hard to get used to working remotely, it's definitely a learned skill. But once learned, you get to enjoy its perks ten-fold.

Pros

I've worked remotely in the past and was very disappointed by the lack of engagement and outreach from my team who were mainly based in a central office location. Not-so at Uscreen. The whole team, from the top down, makes an effort to keep you connected and engaged in your work and with your colleagues. It's exciting to be a part of such an innovative company. Things are always evolving, and there is a lot of room to forge your own path and grow your career.

Cons

Sad that Covid has made it impossible this year for a company-wide retreat :(

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We are also bummed that we couldn't do the retreat... hopefully soon! We are thrilled that you feel connected and engaged with the team! :)

Pros

Overall team gets along great, we got to go on a retreat

Cons

The last couple of reviews seem very suspicious as they are just days apart and are glowing. The company culture is so stifling and hard to work with. No one likes the "time tracking" (which is basically spying) but won't say anything for fear of repercussion or termination.

We pride ourselves in the fact that our team gets along so well and are happy that you agree. That being said, I’d love to address your concerns. We encourage employees to leave reviews in an effort to provide a current and accurate picture of the organization. Though some of these reviews have been within a similar time-frame we are happy that our team is engaged and willing to contribute to the statistics on Glassdoor, and we will continue to encourage individuals to contribute their honest feedback and share their experiences. As our team is almost entirely remote, we don’t have the option to swing by someone’s desk to see if they’re in the office. By using a time-tracking platform it allows us a means to track attendance and productivity. This is simply a tool that allows transparency and accountability, we have an amazing team that does wonderful work! That being said, we do need tools in place in case there are any concerns that need to be documented/addressed. I sincerely hope that if you aren’t comfortable discussing with your manager, that you reach out to me to discuss your experiences and concerns. My virtual door is always open!! -Kelley
