Shared Services Needs a Lesson on Leadership
Pros
Upper management has great character and hard working individuals. There are good benefits, you get work from home or from the office within a very beautiful building. It's a professional atmosphere with wonderful smart people.
Cons
Shared Services Department is run by people who lack leadership and instead feed on power. The entire department comprised mostly of women are hired being told there is a work-life balance but are continually fired or quit from being severely micromanaged. An outrageous turn over in employees while other departments silently talk about it but never truly address it. When I first started, I was told not to talk to anyone and only email people. Shared Services also sabotaged my promotions by bad mouthing me to the departments I was applying to. I also noticed they hire women who have emotional or family problems where they can be more easily controlled. Shared Services followed me around the building, made fun of me when I forget my key card and if I didn't respond to my supervisors' emails "within minutes" she would show up standing at my desk. It was highly degrading. I hope upper management reads this and looks into the shenanigans happening right underneath their nose. If you should report these incidents to HR which some have done, it will go ignored or may get you fired.
