I have been working at Unbounce full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - There is strong direction for the company's overall strategy and goals. I understand my part to play in helping us to get there and feel motivated in my role. - People- first culture where I have felt cared for and encouraged - especially during a pandemic - The people are brilliant, fun and kind. They are a big part of what makes working at Unbounce so great - The leadership team are available, open and transparent - There is an opportunity to grow and develop and this is encouraged

    Cons

    - Sometimes things can be ambiguous as things move so quickly - Moving to a remote environment has meant some adjustments and not everything has been/can be translated to an online working environment

I worked at Unbounce full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - good benefits - more well-established tech company, so they have lots of fun events, swag, and other connection activities - great, central office ( youmay notice a trend that most of the perks of Unbounce are physical office and people-related, not exactly great during COVID times) - they know how to hire good, fun, smart people..the trouble is, they're not quite sure what to actually DO with them

    Cons

    - weak diversity initiatives (most of the recent exits have been people of color) - toxic work environment, favours white people - senior managememnt exec roles not merit-based, handed out to unqualified people. - people with constructive opinions have been shut down publicly by their managers and accused of being a bad team player - p&c used to be actual human beings who cared about the people they partnered with. They now clearly exist only to protect company - mental health/work life balance is highlighted but not actually cared for. Time is given off for mental health, but those people are treated unkindly when they come back. - People have left citing lack of work-life balance - prefer to promote a white person & if not available, they will hire externally - top it all off, uncompetitive salary (no RRSP matching, very behind for Vancouver tech) and lack of opportunities to move up

I worked at Unbounce full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - so many amazing, smart, talented people who really care about each other - People & Culture team and leader who are truly people first - operations team that has worked so hard to provide support to the business with not a lot of resources

    Cons

    - they say they are people first but with a new president, investment, and the founders stepping back profit is the focus at the expense of people - turning into a culture of favouritism; you are promoted not for your talent and skills but if you are part of the elite group -senior leaders are stressed, overworked and burnt out. They try to keep that from seeping into their departments but that just adds to the burnout - they say they value experimentation and curiously but if something is delayed or you don’t succeed you are punished unless you are part of that elite favoured group

    "Messy and frantic"

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Unbounce full-time

    Pros

-Great place for a self starter -Good humans -Brilliant talent -Expecting a lot of growth and opportunities -Fun culure -Fun brand -Branding is strong internally and externally

    Cons

-Founders stepped back -Investment seemed to redirect attention to performance based focus, not people first -Employees have received a clear message that if you cannot measure it, it does not matter this year -The pressure of endless deliverables that must hit performance targets has created a lot of tension -Leaders are pushing direction more heavily -Losing touch with the concerns from the floor -Agile practices are not really Agile -Traditional leaders are demanding guarantees on metrics, which are conflicting with Agile practices -Being remote has made it more difficult to break through any silos and cliques. The cliques are very strong. Always have been. -Cross functional collaboration is seriously needed but for many of the reasons above, not working well

    Pros

Your colleagues at Unbounce will be some of the best people you ever work with. The founders are amazing and are the true soul of this company.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the Senior Leadership Team is a dumpster fire. It's like one of them read one article from HBR on lateral leadership and then thought they could make it happen. This has resulted in a pretty incompetent senior leadership team gaslighting the rest of the organization in the name of "empowerment" and "innovation." There is no accountability for senior leaders and they turn everything around on their managers and subsequent teams. To add insult to injury (the gaslighting) they claim to be a people-first organization while really being a profit-first organization that doesn't hesitate to cut someone loose if they are an inconvenience to the status quo as we've seen happen more and more this year.

I worked at Unbounce full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - great benefits package. - awesome people. -fun team building activities like cooking classes, cookie decorating, etc.

    Cons

-low salary. - no room for internal growth/internal growth is no longer prioritized or considered. - rapid growth/investment funding has led to a lot of chaos without any clear plans for progress. -hiring plans aren't based on the actual needs of the company. -senior management not in touch with the needs of employees. -remote only work due to pandemic has led to fracturing of departments and a more 'silo'd' work environment with less collaboration. - specific departments are prioritized over others, causing certain departments to have a lack of work/life balance due to not having enough people.

    Unbounce Response

    March 23, 2021Director, People & Culture

Thank you for your honest and detailed feedback. This helps us to understand your perspective and experience while working at Unbounce and we appreciate you sharing where you think our gaps are and how we can make improvements. We are grateful to have so many incredible and talented people working at Unbounce. Internal growth and movement are very important to us; we're big believers in developing and training Unbouncers for the next steps in their careers so they can reach their full potential which is why we circulate the majority of our roles internally and allow for a fair period before posting externally. We’re sorry to hear that this hasn’t been your experience at Unbounce. We know there's always room for us to improve in this area and your feedback is appreciated. As our team grows quickly, we will experience some growing pains as you mentioned (such as people feeling too stretched). We are always working on ways to better support our teams and our people leaders through this change. We will continue to encourage feedback to ensure we’re able to take action and make improvements so we can scale a people-first environment where Unbouncers feel C.A.R.E.D for. Remote work is still something that we're trying to navigate and we've made some huge progress. The first is helping Unbouncers set up their working from home office by offering them a $500 allowance. The second thing that we're trying to do is making sure all Unbouncers feel like they are able to collaborate and feel part of the community while we continue to work from home (like our all-hands, town halls, team, and company-wide activities). We’re still working on tweaking our approach, and finding the right way to support in this area and we're committed to listening to our people in order to best support them in this environment. If you would ever like to have a chat about how we can do better and share with us some of your concerns you can reach out to us at careers@unbounce.com and we'll be more than happy to connect with you!

I have been working at Unbounce full-time

    Pros

    - decent benefits - don't seem to have to work very hard to do well (bonus if you are a white male)

    Cons

    - many people in senior leadership roles are not qualified to hold those titles - difficult environment for high achievers - promotions are hard to come by and don't often seem to be given by merit (biases and favouritism at play) - people who create toxic work environments are left alone and not disciplined, while they push great team members to leave - unsupportive and often toxic environment for BIPOCs, women, and parents - no accountability for poor management - hiring practices are not always transparent or diverse/inclusive

    Unbounce Response

    February 25, 2021Director of People & Culture

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your time at Unbounce – it helps us do better. The experience you describe above is absolutely not the one that we strive to create for every Unbouncer - which is - we want to create a people-first, inclusive place where everyone gets to do the best work of their career. Reading through your comments - we did not deliver that for you, and that’s on us. I personally, and our leadership teams, take the feedback on this being a difficult place for marginalized peoples to be successful extremely seriously. Your feedback gives us specific pieces to further dig into and provide additional context for a current ongoing audit in this area. We are not perfect in our delivery of and the building of an organization free of bias, and work to improve every single day, with dedicated people and budgets to address just this. Thank you for taking the time to let us know what your experience was like. We are extremely grateful that, regardless of the avenue, we have this feedback now. Please feel free to reach out to Careers@Unbounce.com if you’d like have a further chat around this. - Leslie Collin, VP of People & Culture
