Pros

A lot of the junior & mid level staff are great people who really care about the clients, the work, and each other. Some of the clients are great and back a good cause. You'll be punted up the corporate ladder if you are white and/or Jewish.

Cons

Since 2020, 5 people of color have left the company. This is not a safe workplace for people of color. Certain people in management are defensive when called out about DEI, including some people of color at the very top. Management is incredibly obsessed with outward optics, but not about making sure values are reflected internally.  As a “progressive” company, they have no understanding of the word and lack a moral compass. They work with pro-apartheid orgs like AIPAC and its Islamophobic/racist/anti-Black projects like Democratic Majority for Israel and Citizens for a Nuclear Free Iran. They even worked on Michael Bloomberg’s presidential campaign and have participated in anti-union work. Health insurance is very bad and most of management is on their husband/wife’s insurance. Salary transparency exists, but not for partners and it doesn’t mention that VPs take home a share of revenue. The DEI agreement new employees sign was edited by women and poc on staff, which is why it sounds legitimate. The problem is that it was never reviewed with staff. Management just had employees sign it to "check a box".  There is a severe lack of empathy from management on politically tough days/during the pandemic. Also, no food gift cards were given out the last three months of the 2020 election, not even on election day.

If you’re POC don’t work here

Pros

Always have downtime to upskill/relax

Cons

You feel looked down upon if you’re a person of color even though this is a liberal, democratic firm. POC colleagues even say that they just deal with it and get used to it but just isn’t right. The retention of BIPOC is low and they all leave.

Pros

Awesome coworkers and convenient office location.

Cons

Toxic work environment, where partners are patronizing and hostile towards anyone who isn't a strategist. There is a clear hierarchy here, if you aren't strategist chances are you will not be promoted or given real growth opportunities. In the past year, I have been here I have seen an exodus from the POC staff due to the treatment and lack of opportunities for people of color in this company. Working here has been detrimental to my self-esteem and mental health. The partners are not supportive, they play favoritism and hire/promote the same type of white strategist. They claim to be a "liberal" agency but they don't have any black or brown strategist. If you are a person of color I highly recommend you don't work here, they are not supportive and don't promote any real diversity in any way.
