Great pay. Great people. Lots of swag. It's Black Ops!

      Cons

Commuting in and out of Santa Monica. The great pay doesn't go very far in LA's housing market.

      Pros

If you work here, it can open a lot of doors for you. The people who work here are amazingly friendly and supportive. Everyone is excellent and passionate about what they do. The people and are wonderful. Lots of perks like grub hub credits and food.

      Cons

The only way to move up or even maintain your job is to consistently work overtime. Overtime is just expected for many positions. It's created by Activision setting consistently aggressive production schedules. It's also created by the competition to not get laid off at the end of a project if you're a temp, which you will be for at least the first year, if you're hired here, regardless of status. There is a real effort to improve things which I applaud leadership for. Things seem to be getting a little better. Activision is very tight with the purse strings no matter how much money COD makes. There are layoffs after each project and if a position is vacated in the middle of crunch don't expect them to hire someone new for that position. They expect you to pick up the slack and do more work to cover for the person who left. I experienced this in multiple departments across multiple projects. The people who thrive here seem to be the ones who are comfortable consistently working overtime hours and schedules to get the job done. They are compensated well for their time and have a lot of independence in their work. There are some political forces at work here. I didn't mind it too much. I could still walk up to anyone at the company and talk to them but I got the sense not to bother the senior management and directors. Top-level politics can hold a project back or suddenly change the direction of a project overnight. Not a lot of diversity of opinion or worldview here. Everyone thinks the same.
