Horrible Upper Management

Pros

- of the multiple locations I worked for my positive experiences came from a couple of outstanding, inspiring, motivating and hard working SMs that try their hardest to perform well/produce results despite the lack of support from any upper management in the company - the customer base is absolutely amazing and make the job worthwhile to some extent - the company itself has an amazing mission and motive, this is just not reflected at all in the behavior of upper management

Cons

- working here as management causes an insurmountable amount of stress due to the lack of support from the DM - emails sent to the DM never get answered no matter how urgent, forced to just figure everything out on your own without any support - PT ASMs are expected to fulfill the exact same role as FT ASMs, typically working close to the same hours per week, however are paid significantly less - Employees are terrified to approach HR with their concerns because historically whenever this has been done the result is that no repercussions are brought on the DM or SM being accused of inappropriate behavior, but rather the reporting employee suffers being subject to aggressive, rude, confrontational backlash by that SM or DM

Pros

Its customers were a blast to work with. I worked at the first Canadian store to open and the customers were lined up outside the door for the opening day and everyone was excited to finally have a store in Canada, which made it fun to work there as their energy just seemed to rub off on you. The staff was great to work with as well and we all seemed to get along great.

Cons

At first, we were given a lot of hours, but then all of a sudden they cut back our hours to no more then 4 or 5 hours a shift and if you were lucky you would get more than two shifts a week. You were lucky if you got more than minimum wage. Management was so focussed on sales that they put unrealistic goals on the staff. A few months after I quit I went back to the store to buy some new work clothes and it took over 30 min for someone to even say hello to me, as they only had three people working that day and they were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Management is more concerned with making money then its customers or staff members.
