Great teams hindered by dangerous conditions and poor leadership

Pros

Great teams, informal and friendly. Sociable work hours

Cons

Where do I begin? Lone working in stores is becoming a norm and only getting worse. Dramatically worse after their latest culling. Its dangerous, people will get hurt! The majority of boxes of tiles we manually handle are 2 man lift, this is printed on the boxes. Most of the head office leadership team are so far removed from what happens in stores that they make ridiculous decisions on a whim, only looking at numbers with no real direction, no accountability for poor decisions and clearly not a thought given to the wellbeing of there staff. Communication team to team in the head office is barely existent. Working on outdated systems, in tired unloved stores, theres a culture of cover and make do rather than actually updating. Prices are massively inflated, and we're expected to drink the coolaid and believe we are better than other places selling the same products. Topps tiles stores are dying, struggling to keep heads above water without enough staff to cover sickness, holidays, maternity and paternity, and with the newest reduction of hours in stores there is nowhere to turn for help as every other store is the same boat. Constantly and consistently fighting for sales against other companies, I say other companies, but also company's under the same umbrella group such as pro tiler, fired earth, ctd. Maybe if we'd put money into existing stores instead of buying out failing businesses we'd be in a better position today? But who knows? We rely on the strength of the brand name, the brand name is mud in the tiling industry, you've aimed at trade when traders will always go where their materials are cheaper. Which is everywhere else.
