Pros

Supportive and knowledgable staff

Cons

Unsupportive and unqualified Uppermanagement. The public service manager does not know how to talk to staff and has no understanding of management. Uppermanagement in general relies on gossip and firings to maintain control through fear. Quality managers are replaced from branches and others aren't allowed to move up in favour of those that suck up and are yes people for the District Managers, Public Service Manager and Director. Innovation is stifled and funding mismanaged. Most staff gain at couple of years of experience and move on to better run and funded library systems.

Admin Retaliation

Pros

The people you work with day-to-day are great.

Cons

The administration will retaliate if you speak to union representation. They will even fire you under trumped up reasons if you seek union support. They also force people out (through intimidation and inhospitable environments) who are bipoc, disabled, or seeking medical support in any way. I am currently filing a report to the EEOC.

Pros

The old TRL, more than 5 years ago, workers were happy, creative, enthusiastic, and confident. I hope it can be again.

Cons

Today's TRL: workers are demoralized, unvalued and afraid to ask for explanations for fear of being labelled "disrespectful". The management has no clue how to actually manage, plan or serve the public.
